Blog Task 4-What is a title sequence

What is a 'Opening Title Sequence';
title sequence (also called an intro) is the method by which films or television programs present their title, key production and cast members, utilising conceptual visuals and sound.

The purpose of a title sequence is to introduce the theme or genre of the film.
It sets the foundations and expectations for what the viewer expects the film to be.
The title sequence is very important as it also credits all of the people involved in the film such as casting, distribution and production identities actors and more.

Title sequences are just as important for the audience as they are for the institution.
The title/film opening also helps for the marketing of the film as if they create a movie that goes under the genre of comedy they cannot just decide to present the film to audiences as a horror film as it would do them no good.
Title sequences also must require the right kind of editing to gain the audiences attention. The title sequence is one of the most important factors of any movie.
It has resulted in the many new ways of adding titles into title sequences such as the 'kinetic typography' and digital art title cards.

As i have previously stressed, title sequences are again very important as some of them are able to be done so good, that they have left a mark on history itself.
Title sequences do not only appear in film media, they also appear in video games and television series.

Here is an example:
