3: Favourite past student work

Group 28

My favourite previous student blog is set 6, group 28. There are various reasons to as of why i particularly like group 28's blog, on of the reasons being the presentation of the blog. The blog is easy to read, this results in a blog with the content being on of the most important aspects as its heavily highlighted with the use of contrasting text box colour and text colour. I also like the fact that they incorporated a scene from their title sequence as their background, this can give a reader a sense of what their blog is about and the type of genre their title sequence may be.

The group blog is also easy to navigate with the navigation bar being on the right hand side, this means i can locate blogs chronologically and by name.  I also like the fact that they used ICT apps such as emaze and prezi to upload various pieces of content, such as slide shows resulting in a blog post with more content without having to continuously scroll, tis also makes there blog more interactive which i appreciate.

My favourite title sequence from the previous year is the title sequence is "Shutdown" created by group 28 which consisted of Talia, Jada, Drew and Catherine. One of the reasons behind this is that the whole sequence does not feel as if it is made my amateur students through the use of credits in the beginning of the sequence as well as the production name and also through the use of a variety of different shot types used, including cut ins of the hand and feet as well as mid shots to introduce the character to the audience. I specifically liked the fact that in certain scenes, they didn't use the tripod and were intentionally shaky with the camera to create a dramatic and chaotic effect, almost as if the actress herself was also shaky.

I also think they succeeded in trying to make the title sequence appear as professional as possible, one of the ways they achieved this is through the use of creative camera angles, by this is mean in a few of the scenes that involved the elevator, they raised the camera high enough and at a angle facing downwards to create the impression that the viewer is watching the title sequence through a CCTV camera, this also increases the dramatic effect in the title sequence as it makes it appear mire artificial as we are not at eye level with the character which works in the groups favour.

The lighting in this title sequence seems to be dim and sombre in certain scenes to create the effect of mystery through out the title sequence and possibly to also not give to much away about the characters as after all its only a title sequence not the movie, this works in the groups favour as it gives the impression of uncertainty therefore the viewer is left to guess what will happen and wanting to know more.

I also enjoyed the use of heavy editing, one of the reasons behind this is because the group created the effect of interference on the screen between scenes and shots, this can boost the dramatic effect as it can give the impression of trouble arising hence the interference.

Also the use of eerie sound effects and background music makes the whole sequence seem thrilling and can make the viewer tense, all together with the use of all the techniques mentioned, it is obvious to see that the title sequence is the beginning of a thriller which i enjoy as it makes the sequence appear professional as straight away i can identify the genre of this sequence.
