Favourite film title sequence analysis (9)

One of my favourite films is 'The Man from U.N.C.L.E'. It is an action comedy directed by Guy Richie and based on the 1964 T.V, show 'The Man from UNCLE'.
The film is based in the Cold War era in  a divided Berlin, Germany. It follows a Russian and American spy working together to defeat a common enemy.
The comical aspects of the film are subtle but noticeable and the action aspect is very evident.

This title sequence mainly presents the titles with moving images. This helps the audience understand what the film is going to be about and gives background context. By using moving images in the title sequence an introduction of the theme of the film has been made.
Although its mainly moving images there is a presence of still images with the titles(especially in the beginning). This is because it's a convenient and low cost way  to add extra information about the film.
I've also noticed there is a theme of the colour red here. The lines guiding the camera are red and the images have a red tint to them. This is connoting the topic of danger and therefore foreshadowing or introducing events of the film.
The background music is a calm jazz song which contrasts with the restless moving images. The contrapuntal music is more effective as the images leave a bigger impression on the audience.
One of the main characters is introduced in the title sequence with a series of long, medium and close up shots. This allows the audience to see what he is wearing which helps establish his importance along with seeing his face clearly. Also, the camera follows him around which further portrays that he is a key character in the film.

As we can see the production and distribution company are given first credits which is standard with films. After credits to the director (Guy Ritchie) we have the title of the film instead of the starring actors. Richie is mentioned many times as he plays parts in production, directing and screenplay writing.
