What makes a good title sequnce-Kyle Cooper.
For task 6, i had to watch a short interview which consisted of Kylie Cooper giving his verdict on what makes a good title sequence.Below are some important factors he mentions.
In the interview, Kylie cooper is accredited with changing title sequence as a whole art form by revitalising them.
He believes that a good title sequence must be able to;
-be seamless(as if you are completely absorb in that moment)
-set an expectation for the rest of the film/whilst putting you in a trance.
-make the view feel excited.
Once all of these factors are met, you know that you've done a good job in creating your title sequence.
In the film 'Seven' Kylie cooper mentions that using certain fonts or type are really important for the film.
-It can easily add to the tone of the film.
-It contributes to the impression that you are trying to set.
*That the type should never be an afterthought but should always be integrated, this is because it can really set the foundations to how the film will be received by the audience.
An example would be imaging a grungy movie like, 'Seven' with very neat and smart hand-writing. It would not contrast well with the kind of movie seven is;being grungy or edgy.
Kylie Cooper also shares his opinions to why he likes the title sequences listed below.

(A poster image of Stephen Kings 'Dead Zone' and 'To kill a mocking bird)
DeadZone:
Kylie Cooper thinks that dead zone's music in its title sequence works very well with what is visually shown.
He also believes that it left an impression because he got an interest in the film.
To kill a mocking bird:
-Scout sets the idea that as a character she will be an important character. She is also very interesting and he enjoys seeing her chemistry. He loves her characters obsession with her treasure box.
-The way shots are photographed are beautiful,when the marbles distort the background
-He likes the focus on objects and the form of the horizontal line works very well. He also says that the shots create a good contrast.
-The typography has been integrated well.
Story based main title sequences.
-They have a specific back story-They have a clear metaphor and a poster pun that tells you what the film is about.
What problems might a studio face after an audience test screening?
The problems that the studio may face after conducting an audience test screening are that they realise that they might not have enough money to do another screening, they might lack the funds to shoot another scene in a different location.
They could even find out that the audience are unable to follow the story or direction that the studio are going in.
The two and a half minutes of the title sequence become important because;
-They can include a prologue for the movie.
-Include information that they might have missed out during the main filming of the film.
-Even use it as another scene for the movie.
Dawn of the dead:

The title sequences to Dawn of the Dead try to set the ideas that;
there is a carnage all over the world and that civilians are going nuts.
-Make sure that the idea of panic is set throughout the movie.
-He includes a second title sequence where when the survivors who try to escape in a happy ending on a boat then end up on an island which is bad.
-They use the time to help advance the story.
Cooper believes that titles are important to a film because:
-They can help the movie, provide a back story.
-Allow them to realise that some scenes are needed to be cut because the titles already explain it.
-The designers are able to tell a story just through the titles of a film!
